Ruins of Dawn Class Tier List — Demo Rankings

This Ruins of Dawn class tier list is a demo-era / provisional ranking for RuinsofDawnDemo and early preview builds ahead of the August 14, 2026 Steam launch. It summarizes how Warrior, Mage, and Warlock feel when you factor in clear speed, survivability, boss damage, and forging synergy — not isolated tooltip numbers from a single gear set.

Ruins of Dawn lets you switch classes anytime, so tiers describe convenience and power curve, not permanent account locks. Use this page alongside Classes, beginner builds, and the build checklist when picking a main or co-op role.

Tier List Methodology (Preview Builds)

Each class is scored across four demo-visible pillars:

  1. Early mapping — first sessions through initial Rift invasions and bounty routes.
  2. Affix farming efficiency — how quickly you fill stash with high /5 pieces for affix crafting.
  3. Midgame safety — deaths per hour while learning Controls and potion binds.
  4. Late boss throughput — single-target burst on deep map bosses and Rift Key trials.

Legendaries can temporarily skew results. Long-term, demo veterans frequently report that five-affix forged gear outpaces random legendaries, so tiers assume you engage Forging builds rather than stop at orange drops.

Demo-Era Class Tier Table

TierClassDemo-era summary
S (early)MageFastest pack clear; best teacher for affix fractions and map routes
AWarlockSafe pet leveling; strong midgame farming with forgiving spacing
A/B (early)WarriorSturdier but slower until gear fractions and skills mature
S (late boss)WarriorTop single-target burst once forging and skill books align

These labels are community-reported patterns, not official patch notes. Revisit after demo updates listed on our tier list hub and demo review.

Mage — S-Tier Early Clear and Loot Teacher

Mage earns S-tier early because area damage collapses packs quickly, which accelerates everything that matters in a loot ARPG: more drops per minute, faster exposure to five-affix bases, and quicker lessons in reading /5 affix quality on the gear items page.

Mage is not invincible. Harder elites still punish standing still, and Mage can feel merely A-tier on tight boss mechanics until you invest in defensive affixes from the affix glossary. For brand-new players, Mage remains the default recommendation in Getting Started because it teaches the forging loop without excessive deaths.

Best Mage demo goals: farm inject donors, complete bounties, and stash neutral chest/boot pieces other classes can wear after class switching.

Warlock — A-Tier Safe Pet Leveling and Midgame Farm

Warlock sits at A-tier for players who want safer spacing while pets apply steady damage. Demo reports highlight pet bodies absorbing stray hits while you evaluate loot and plan extractions — a workflow that pairs well with Progression lessons on destroying donor items.

Warlock clear speed trails Mage on wide open packs but often exceeds Warrior until forged burst comes online. In co-op, Warlock frequently fills the control and sustained DPS slot while a Warrior or Mage handles burst phases — see Co-op for party pacing notes.

When to pick Warlock over Mage: you understand maps but keep dying during affix reading pauses, or you want a midgame farmer before pivoting to Warrior for boss nights.

Warrior — A/B Early, S-Tier Late Boss Specialist

Warrior is the classic scaling carry: A/B-tier early because single-target tools and gear fractions need time to come together, then S-tier late on boss-focused content once inject and reforge projects from Forging builds support burst windows.

Early Warrior struggles are normal. Low fractions on weapons and missing skill books make packs feel sluggish compared to Mage. Stick with Warrior if your goal is deep map bosses, Trials, or Ruin Gem ruins where single-target matters more than trash speed.

Warrior demo tip: stash high-fraction weapons and crit affixes even while leveling Mage — Warrior rewards prepared gear more than the other classes.

Co-op Tier Adjustments (Informal)

Party composition shifts perceived tiers without changing solo rankings:

RolePreferred classWhy
Speed farmerMageClears routes for the group
Stable mapperWarlockPets cover mistakes
Boss callerWarriorBurst on phase-limited targets

Shared loot etiquette still requires everyone to understand forging — carry sessions fail when one player cannot contribute extracts planned in the build checklist.

Class Switching Makes Tiers Flexible

Because you can swap anytime, treat tiers as session goals:

  • Session 1–3: Mage for learning and stash filling.
  • Mid demo: Warlock for safer farming while planning extracts.
  • Boss prep: Warrior with forged weapon bases and trial keys.

The class switching guide explains shared gear rules so you do not rebuild from zero each swap.
